Daniel Schendel

President and Founder

Daniel Schendel, a senior at Henry M. Gunn High School in Palo Alto, CA, founded Electronics For Education in February of 2020 to help equip students to be able to study from home with their own computers. Daniel is an avid volunteer for the World Education Fund, a nonprofit organization which helps impoverished students in Africa to go to school. While Daniel is involved with international students, he also realized that many students in his own community did not have access to technology at home, limiting their ability to do anything from drafting essays to watching Khan Academy videos. Knowing the importance of education, he founded Electronics for Education to enable students to be able to study remotely, but also to eventually be able to achieve financial independence. In his free time, Daniel enjoys debate, reading, backpacking, and video games.

Phoebe Wang

Vice President of Operations

Phoebe Wang is a senior at St. Ignatius College Preparatory, a Catholic high school located in San Francisco. Phoebe joined Electronics For Education in August of 2020 because she believes that every student should have technology to expand their imagination and interests in order to become a better version of themselves. She has taken on many projects such as fundraising and community outreach since she joined Electronics For Education. For instance, Phoebe has been teaching English online to students in China to raise money for our organization. In her free time, she enjoys drawing, cooking and gardening.

Jack Davisson

Director of Publicity

Jack Davisson, a senior at Henry M. Gunn High School, believes passionately in every student's right to a good education and all the tools necessary to a good education. He joined Electronics for Education in April of 2021 because of his belief that students today need good technology at home in order to be strong students at school. Outside of helping to build Electronics for Education, Jack is an avid classical guitarist and soccer player. Jack, who has been learning the guitar since the age of five, volunteers with the Peninsula Guitar Series to teach classical guitar to students who are interested in learning music but cannot afford lessons.

Shinmu Jiang

Director of Finance

Shinmu Jiang, a senior at Henry M. Gunn High School, believes that all children are entitled to a good education. Realizing that he and his peers have been blessed with the privilege of having a good education, he joined Electronics for Education in August of 2020 to help other less fortunate kids get the materials necessary to support a good education. Besides volunteering for Electronics For Education, he has also volunteered for many other nonprofits. For example, he has helped build bookshelves for students in need in China. Outside of his numerous charitable activities, he is a passionate pianist and a basketball player for his school team.
